Life terms for BSF jawans

Jaisalmer, Feb 12 (UNI) Border Security Force's Director General S N Jain has confirmed the life terms for two jawans, given to them by a Court of inquiry for murdering their colleague.

As no appeals against the decision were filed in any court, both jawans were sent to jail and expelled from their services.

On January 13, 2006, Jawan Hariram had fired at head constable Dharamveer and shot him down at Durga check post on the borders of Jaisalmer. Constable Devcharan has been convicted of misleading the authorities and withholding information.

The police produced a challan in lower court regarding tha case but later BSF constituted a jury and conducted the Court of inquiry. The accused were handed over to BSF.

Sources said the jury, after examining all the pieces of evidence and going over the facts, sentenced Jawan Hariram and constable Devcharan to life term. The sentence copy was sent to Director General S N Jain, who confirmed it.
