Kamal Nath to inaugurate 17th IETF tomorrow

New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath will inaugurate the 17th International Engineering and Technology Fair (IETF) 2007, Asia's largest all-industry business event, here tomorrow.

More than 1,000 delegates from 55 countries will participate in the fair, a big leap in comparison to 25 countries in IETF 2005.

There are 28 countries participating in this year's IETF as compared to 17 in IETF 2005.

Japan is participating in the 17th IETF after a decade, with over 100 companies, who will showcase their technological might.

Major Japanese automobile companies -- Toyota, Suzuki, Honda; consumer durable makers -- Hitachi, Canon, Fujitsu, Seiko, Toshiba; engineering firms -- Mitsubishi, Komatsu, Kawasaki Heavy Engineering, Sumitomo, are participating in the event.

A large contingent of businessmen from Russia will also be present at the IETF 2007.

Overseas participants, besides Japan, are Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, New Zealand, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Spread over four days, IETF 2007 is structured as a comprehensive B2B event. It will feature conferences on SMEs, technology innovation and railways.
