JETRO CEO calls on PM
New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today urged Mr Osamu Watanabe, Chairman and CEO of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), to expedite the implementation of the landmark project, the Mumbai-Delhi industrial corridor.
Mr Watanabe said JETRO was committed to the corridor initiative that was announced during the visit of the Prime Minister to Japan in December, 2006.
The corridor would come up alongside the rail freight corridor being set up with Japanese assistance.
Describing the corridor proposal as a ''landmark concept,'' Dr Singh said it must be implemented at the earliest.
Reaffirming India's commitment to increased bilateral cooperation, he said he was looking forward to the visit of Prime Minister Abe to India later this year.
Mr Watanabe reiterated Japan's growing interest in investing in India. The high level of Japanese participation at the India Engineering Trade Fair was a manifestation of growing Japanese interest in doing business in India, he pointed out.
