HC seeks confirmation from CBI in Marad murder case

Kochi, Feb 12 (UNI) A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court comprising acting Chief Justice K S Radhakrishnan and Justice M N Krishanan today sought a confirmation from CBI on whether it had taken up probe into 2003 Marad beach murders.

In a writ petition filed as a PIL by People's Forum For Natural Justice, it submitted that an enquiry commission appointed by Kerala government had found that a probe by the CBI or the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence was necessary into the killings of the people near Kozhikode.

Based on the report, the government had issued a communication to CBI requesting it to take up the investigation. However, CBI has not so far taken up the investigation, the petitioner condended.

The court gave three weeks time to CBI to confirm whether it has taken up the probe.
