Uttar Pradesh: Day curfew to be lifted in Gorakhpur
Gorakhpur, Feb 11: With the communal violence affected district showing signs of returning to normalcy, the district administration late tonight decided to lift the day curfew from tommorow.
Meanwhile, curfew was relaxed for 12 hours in all the four police station areas from 08:00 hrs till 20:00 hrs. The district administration has decided to give a relaxtion of 16 hours in the curfew in all the four police stations from tomorrow.
Additional District Magistrate P K Agrawal told UNI that it has been decided to lift the day time curfew from 6 am to 10 pm in a meeting of the officials.
However, the curfew will continue in the night as a precautionary measure, he added.
In view of the normalcy returning to the district, it has also been decided to open all the educational institutions. However, the University will remain closed on the request of Vice Chancellor.
Tajias which could not be buried as the communal violence had broke out in the distict were buried today in Karbala and nearby areas.
Curfew was imposed in four police station areas of Kotwali, Rajghat, Tiwaripur and Gorakhnath in the wake of communal violence which claimed two lives.
