Congress using muscle power during election campaigns: CPI
Imphal, Feb 12 (UNI) The CPI, which is a partner of the ruling Congress-led Secular Progressive Front(SPF), today accused the Congress of using ''muscle power and violence'' during the election campaign.
Speaking to the mediapersons here, Commerce and Industries Minister N Mangi, who is contesting from Kumbi and Bishenpur, where elections would be held on February 14 in the second phase, said the Congress candidates were not ''fit to call themselves real Congressmen and were resorting to violence''.
He said he has filed complaints to the Election officials and police about the Congress workers of Kumbi. ''Congress candidate Bira had beaten up a large numbers of CPI workers,'' he alleged.
He said all the flags and posters of CPI were pulled down and people intimidated not to vote for the CPI.
A CPI workers had been beaten up and detained by the Congress workers, he further said.
