Campaigning ends for second phase of polling in Manipur
Imphal, Feb 12 (UNI) Campaigning for the second phase of election in Manipur ended today as polls would be held in 29 Assembly segments of Imphal East, West and Bishenpur on February 14.
Police said election related crimes were on the rise with the poll dates coming nearer.
A person was killed at Jiribam on February 10 and ten people were injured in clashes last evening between supporters of two candidates, the police said.
Security has been beefed up in view of the elections and Chief Electoral Officer R R Rashmi said that police commandoes will not be used for election duty and would only be deployed to carry out normal duties.
