Briton raped by Polish national, accused arrested

New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) A 28-year-old Briton was allegedly raped by a Polish national, whom she befriended recently here, in a Paharganj hotel in Central Delhi.

Accused Dominique Rafael, 32, was arrested on February 8 after the British girl reported the matter to the police and a medical examination confirmed sexual assault, said a senior police official.

According to the complaint, the girl who had come to India on February 1 and was staying in Hotel Bajranj at Paharganj was allegedly raped on the night of February 7 after she went to 'stay' at Rafael's room in another hotel.

The two had a drinking session at a Connaught Place restaurant that evening after which the girl went along with the Polish national to his room.

However, police was called late in the night after the girl started crying aloud from the room and the hotel staff assembled.

The police later contacted the Embassy of Poland and the British High Commission here after which the medical examination on the girl was conducted, a case registered at Paharganj police station and the accused arrested on February 8.

Rafael, who was staying in 'Hotel Satyam', had come to India on a one-month tourist visa and landed in Delhi on February 3.
