BJP asks TN Govt to approach tribunal on Cauvery

Vellore, Tamil Nadu, Feb 12 (UNI) The BJP today asked the Tamil Nadu Government to approach the Cauvery River Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) to redress the shortfall in allocation of water to the state under its final verdict.

A resolution passed at the state executive meeting of the BJP said according to the tribunal's final verdict , Tamil Nadu would get lesser water than the allocation under its interim order.

The party asked the state to bring this to the notice of the tribunal for redressal.

The meeting also requested Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to take all efforts to prevent Andhra Pradesh Government from constructing a dam across River Palar.

It denounced certain statements made by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy against the judiciary and said he must express regret.

The BJP also expressed concern over the state of law and order in the state.

Blaming online trading for the hike in the prices of essential commodities, the BJP alleged fraud to the tune of several lakh crore under the system.

It also requested the Centre to ban online trading to bring prices of essential commodities under control.

On Sethusamudram Project, the BJP wanted the government to ensure the Ramar Bridge did not suffer any damages during dredging work.
