Bhutanese delegation in Punjab to study poll process

Hoshiarpur, Feb 12 (UNI) A seven-member delegation from Election Commission of Bhutan is on a visit to Punjab, which goes to assembly polls tomorrow, to get the first hand information on the practical aspect of the poll mechanism.

The delegation, which was in this district today, had one-hour meeting with the local authorities and exchanged important relevant information on various poll processes.

Deputy Commissioner D K Tiwari and R N. Dhoke, SSP, who briefed the team, said the visitors seemed impressed by the meticulous poll arrangements for the assembly elections in the district.

The delegation comprises team leader Mr G. Tshering, Mr Tenzin, Mr Dawa, Mr Panjor, Ms Yeshey Dem, Ms Tshering Dekar and Mr Yangley Dorji.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the Bhutan delegation had been granted permission by the Election Commission of India to enter any booth to see the polling process during election hours.
