Bangalore, Feb 12 (UNI) Karnataka Assembly was adjourned today without transacting any business following protests by some members who sought the adjournment in support of Statewide Bandh call by various organisations in protest against the final verdict of Cauvery River Water Dispute Tribunal (CWDT) on February Five.

As soon as the House assembled, Kannada Vatal Paksha President Vatal Nagaraj protested and tore a copy of the questionnaire and demanded adjournment of the House in support of the bandh.

Janata Dal(United) leader J C Madhuswamy also endorsed the demand, while ruling Janata Dal(Secular) members H G Balakrishna, Annadani and some other members also pleaded with the Chair to adjourn the House for the day.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M P Prakash felt that if the House was adjourned it would send a wrong signal. This was the reason the business advisory committee had decided to go ahead with the Session. The government was trying to find alternate solutions to resolve the Cauvery tangle, including seeking the intervention of the Centre and going to the Supreme Court, he said.

He also thanked the people for maintaining peace in the State.

Sensing the mood of the House, Speaker Krishna adjourned the house till tomorrow morning.
