Akali Dal (Amritsar) candidate disappears

Amritsar, Feb 12 (UNI) Just a day before the Assembly elections in Punjab, a Akali Dal (Amritsar) candidate from the Jandiala (reserve) Assembly constituency disappeared under mysterious circumstances from his home in Basarke village.

SP (Headquarter) Manminder Singh said the candidate, Swinderpal Singh, left his home at around midnight and did not return. The matter was reported to the police by the police personnel deployed for the security of the candidate.

The SP while confirming the incident today said a report in this regard had been registered at the Chheratta police station. The police are still trying to trace the candidate, he added.
