Three bookies arrested

Bhopal, Feb 11 (UNI) Police today arrested three bookies here on the charge of betting on the England-Australia one-day international played at Sydney in Australia recently.

''On a tip off, a raid was carried out and bookies Prakash Jani, Janak Baryani and Raees were arrested. Betting slips worth Rs 2.5 lakh, five mobile phones, television and other items were seized from them besides Rs 15,000 cash,'' Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Verma said.

The bookies used to place wages for various international matches and used to operate from different locations.

Betting was taking place at Raees' home today.
