Rane urges for public-private partnership

Panaji, Feb 11 (UNI) Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane has urged for strengthening public-private partnership for all round development of the state.

''The government or the public sector alone cannot be expected to provide all the facities for urban residents. Partnership with private players can ensure orderly growth of cities,'' he said.

He was addressing the valedictory session of a workshop on ''Urban India 2020: Investing in the Future of Indian Cities Leveraging European Expertise for their Renewal'', organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry and Euro India Forum yesterday.

Participating in the session, Mr M Ramachandran, secretary, Union Urban Development Ministry, called for strengthening the IITs and the infrastructure development corporations in a big way to help augment urban transport and other facilities.
