Pulse Polio round successfully completed in Haryana

Chandigarh, Feb 11 (UNI) The National Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme was today carried out throughout Haryana successfully.

Approximately 61 per cent children were administered polio drops in spite of heavy rains in many districts of the state.

As many as 1,55,90 booths were set up in the state for the purpose. They were manned by about 62,000 health officials, ASHA, volunteers, and aanganwari workers.

About 3100 officers and officials supervised the administration of polio drops apart from the nodel officers from the state headquarters and independent monitors of PGIMS, Rohtak.

The campaign would continue for another two days by way of house-to-house activity to administer polio drops to left out children. Approximately, 40 lakh children would be covered during this campaign.

Revenue and Irrigation Minister, Capt Ajay Singh Yadav inaugurated the campaign at the General Hospital of district Rewari and the Parliamentary Secretary, Health, Dr Krishna Pandit inaugurated the campaign in Yamunanagar. Mrs Geeta Bhukkal, Mr Rakesh Kamboj and Dura Ram all MLAs inaugurated the campaign in districts Kaithal, Karnal and Fatehabad respectively.

During this round special attention was being paid to slums, far-flung areas, isolated hutments, brick kilns and migrating population.
