New Delhi, Feb 11 (UNI) A heady cocktail of nostalgia and motoring history marked the Statesman's vintage and classic car rally here today.

Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal SP Tyagi flagged off a well-attended car rally at the Statesman House at 0815 hrs. Around 120 cars made their way through KG Marg, India Gate, Shanti Path and Moti Bagh to the National Stadium.

The classic cars were the cynosure of all eyes as curious faces turned their attention towards the sounds of engines roaring down the road.

The organisers were pleased with the undaunting spirit, especially the performance of some old cars which had been salvaged from scrap heap and participated in the rally.

The winning car was in fact, the oldest in the race. Jameel Ahmad, Director of the National Rail Museum, owns the car which was built in 1914.

The event, first held in 1964, is held annually.
