NDI to support DMK in Corpn polls
Chennai, Feb 11 (UNI) The Namadhu Dravida Iyakkam (NDI) today decided to extend its support to the ruling DMK in the Chennai City Corporation repolls and also in elections to various local bodies in the state.
Party Founder-President Oviam said in a press release a resolution to this effect was adopted at the NDI State executive held here today.
She said the resolution called up on the party workers to work for the victory of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in Tamil Nadu.
The meeting urged the Union Government to introduce the Bill for providing 33 per cent reservation for women in the ensuing Budget Session of the Lok Sabha and appealed to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to use his good offices with the centre to ensure the Bill was tabled.
The NDI hailed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's tactful handling of the Cauvery issue after the tribunal issued its verdict.

The meeting wanted Mr Karunanidhi to initiate action for the proper implementation of the final award of the tribunal besides filing a review petition highlighting the 'shortcomings' in the verdict.
It appealed to the Union Government to confer the country's highest award-- "Bharat Ratna"-- on DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for recognising his services to the society, politics and Tamil language, she said.
She said a large number of Desiya Dravida Murpokku Kazhagam (DMDK) volunteers led by Maduravayal Town DMDK Representative M Sundar joined the NDI.
