Murdered woman's identity established

Vijayawada, Feb 11 (UNI) The 25-year-old woman, found murdered in a lodge here in the city yesterday, was identified as a news reader of a private channel City West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vijay Kumar told UNI the deceased woman was identified as Lakshmi Sujatha.

The murder came to light when the police found the body in a pool of blood with stab injuries on the neck, wrists and spine yesterday at a lodge.

On investigation, it was found Sujatha had been on leave for the past two months.

She had come here from Hyderabad to attend a marriage, he said.

Police said the management of the lodge informed that two men, aged around 30 years, had checked into the room during early hours of Friday and disappeared.

Police collected fingerprints and blood samples from the scene of the crime.

Later, after post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family members, he added.
