Modi proposes coastal security plan to Centre

Jamnagar, Feb 11 (UNI) In a move to beef up security along the 1600- km-long Gujarat coastline, the state government has proposed a Rs 328 crore security plan to the Centre and was awaiting its approval, Chief Minister Narendra Modi said today.

Speaking at a mass marriage ceremony at Dwarka in the district, where 123 couples were married, Mr Modi said Indian fishermen should be given insurance cover for their boats seized by the Pakistani coastal security.

Invariably, they returned without their boats and found it difficult to earn their bread, he said.

''It is a life without a job. With insurance cover they can purchase new boats or can start some other business, Mr Modi said.
