Liquor racket busted, five held

Puducherry, Feb 11 (UNI) Police today busted an illegal liquor manufacturing racket at Ariyankuppam near here and arrested five persons.

According to police, Ariyankuppam police led by Inspector Ranganathan, on a tip off sorrounded a house at Sridharnagar and all the eight occupants, who tried to flee, were arrested.

Police seized IMFL manufacturing-machines, labels and 2,000 quarter-size bottles of brands such as Old Monk, Macdowel and Monitor.

On interrogation, it was revealed that three consignments were already sent to Chennai.

Police also impounded an Ambassador car and a motor cycle bringing the total worth of seizure to Rs five lakh.
