Kolkata, Feb 11: The Chief Ministers of Northeast should come forward with their problems and demands of the states so that the Centre could solve those, according to Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Mani Shankar Aiyar.

Talking to the reporters here last night at the closing ceremony of 'Crafts and Weaves of Assam' at Oxford Bookstore, Mr Aiyar urged the NE people to consider themselves as a vital part of India and urged them not to 'feel out of place'.

He said the people must cooperate with the government and assured them that identity of their states would not be compromised.

Mr Aiyar also reminded them that their states had both abundant natural resources and culturally rich with distinct heritage.

The Centre has decided to spend about 10 per cent of the total of budgetary allocation every year for Northeast, he said.
