58 Lankan refugees arrive in TN
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Feb 11 (UNI) As many as 58 refugees from 11 families arrived at Dhanushkodi from Sri Lanka this morning.
Police said the refugees fled Sri Lanka in the wake of increased hostilities between the island nation's forces and the LTTE.
They arrived in Dhanushkodi by boats and after verification were taken to Mandapam Refugee Camp.
Recounting the hardships faced by them in their native, the refugees said they did not have food or water and were enveloped in darkness as there was no electricity.
Besides, their children risked being taken away for being trained as child soldiers, they claimed.
