250 fall ill after drinking borewell water

Nagpur, Feb 11 (UNI) Around 250 people, including six children, have taken ill after drinking water from a borewell at village Kahali-Khandala in Brahmapuri taluka of Chandrapur district.

Chandrapur district Superintendent of Police Ravindra Kadam told UNI that the people yesterday night consumed food at a religious function after which they drank water from a nearby borewell.

The people started vomitting and complained of diarrhoea. They were rushed to the hospitals at Nagbhid and Brahmapuri, Mr Kadam said ''Those who have taken ill include six children, 90 women and 154 men and are under treatment. We have sent the water samples for laboratory tests,'' Mr Kadam added.
