12 arrested for producing fake voter cards

Barrackpore, Feb 11 (UNI) Altogether 12 people were arrested for producing fake voter identity cards before the Block Development Officer of Gaighata, police said here today.

They had presented fake Elector's Personal Identity Cards (EPICs) and documents. Gaighata BDO Jyotirmay Tanti had handed them over to the police.

The EPICs were said to have been issued in 2004 under forged seals and signatures of the BDO and Sub-divisional officer of Baruipur in South 24 Parganas.

The accused were produced before the Sub-divisional Magistrate Court at Bangaon.

Police had started investigation into the racket.
