Two officers arrested for accepting bribe

Patna, Feb 10 (UNI) State vigilance sleuths today arrested two state government officers for accepting bribe in connection with appointment of teachers at Adapur block in East Champaran district.

Additional Director General of Police (ADG) of state vigilance bureau Neelmani said that a trap was laid following the complaints received against block development officer Anand Swaroop and block education extension officer Vasudev Paswan of Adapur reagrding a demand of Rs 70,000 as illegal gratification from a candidate aspiring to become teacher.

''Both the officers--Mr Swaroop and Mr Paswan--were caught red handed while accepting Rs 5000 and Rs 2000 respectively as bribe at their official residences in East Chamapran district'' he added.

The vigilance sleuths recovered Rs 30,000 in Nepalese currency from the residence of Mr Swaroop during the raid.

The arrested officers would be produced before special vigilance court in Muzaffarpur tomorrow.
