Skinheads attack Newsweek correspondent in Moscow subway

Moscow, Feb 10 (UNI) Russian skinheads last night attacked and beat correspondent of Russian version of Newsweek magazine, Aidar Buribayev, at Teatralnaya metro station, in central Moscow.

In the latest racially motivated incident, four young men with ''closely-cropped hair wearing black uniforms'' approached Buribayev and asked him whether he knew ''Russia was for Russians,'' Russian state-controlled TV Channel One reported, adding when Buribayev replied ''Not only for them,'' they attacked and beat him and then fled.

Buribayev received minor injuries in the attack and refused medical help. He reported the incident to the Moscow metro police.

Moscow police were searching for those who attacked the journalist, a source told Itar-Tass news agency, adding an official investigation into the incident has been launched.
