Indore, Feb 9 (UNI) Delhi Metro Railway Managing Director Dr E Sreedharan was today honoured by the Indore Management Association for his lifetime achievement in completing Konkan railway and Delhi Metro first phase ahead of schedule.

Dr Sreedharan was presented a citation and memento at the inaugural session of the two-day management conference on ''Business Renaissa-Innovative architecture for tomorrow''. He was honoured by Indian Management Association President Subir Raha and Indore Management Association office-bearers.

Recalling his experience of Konkan Railway and Delhi Metro, Dr Sreedharan said the feat was achieved due to team work. Punctuality was followed as religion and discipline was ensured strictly.

He said one day's delay in Delhi Metro meant a loss of Rs 1.5 crore. Time is money. Both projects were completed on schedule keeping in view all these factors, he added.

Dr Sreedharan suggested that Metro railway was suitable for cities with a population of more than 30 lakhs. Delhi metro was providing support to Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi, Pune and Kolkata in setting up metro rail service.

''It was the right time Indore should consider to have metro rail'', he said, adding Indore's population was increasing rapidly.

Any further delay would cause more problems, he added.

The second phase of Delhi metro was scheduled to be completed by June, 2010, coinciding with the Commonwealth Games that year end, Dr Sreedharan added.
