K'taka: Oppn agitation continues, Council adjourned
Bangalore, Feb 9: The Opposition Congress, sticking to theirdemand for election to the Council Chairman post, continued theiragitation forcing the Chair to adjourn the proceedings to Mondaywithout transacting any business today.
As soon as the house rose for the day, Congress members allegedthat appointment of Janata Dal (Secular) member N Tippanna asofficiating Chairman was illegal and election should be held to fillthe post.
Mr Mukyamantri Chandru (BJP) and Mr Chickmadu (JD-S), who had comewith placards condemning the injustice done to Karnataka by the CauveryWater Dispute Tribunal (CWDT) demanded immediate discussion on theissue. However, Congress members were not willing to allow discussionunless elections were announced for Chairman post and raised slogansagainst the State Government.
The House plunged into chaos and nothing could be heard in the dinwhile Mr Tippanna who was on the chair adjourned the house to Mondayafter making a vain bid to bring order in the house.
