India, Thailand discuss coop against terror, crime

Bangkok, Feb 9: India and Thailand today wrapped up the two-daytalks here on mutual cooperation to fight terrorism, economic crime anddrug-trafficking.

Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs N Ravi,accompanied by two junior officials from the Narcotics Control Bureauand Enforcement Directorate, took part in the annual Thai-India JointWorking Group on Security.

Besides joint efforts to fight terrorism, financial anddrug-related offences, the five-year-old bilateral forum covers widercooperation between the two countries.

India also shared information and technical expertise on diasastermanagement with Thailand as a part of their collaboration in thisdirection.

Bilateral cooperation between the two is growing in other fieldstoo with India seeking closer cultural and educational ties withThailand including in university curricula in both the nations.

The two countries will mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in August this year.
