India, thailand discuss coop against terror, crime and drugs

Bangkok, Feb 9 (UNI) India and Thailand today wrapped up the two-day talks here on mutual cooperation to fight terrorism, economic crime and drug-trafficking.

Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs N Ravi, accompanied by two junior officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau and Enforcement Directorate, took part in the annual Thai-India Joint Working Group on Security.

Besides joint efforts to fight terrorism, financial and drug-related offences, the five-year-old bilateral forum covers wider cooperation between the two countries.

India also shared information and technical expertise on diasaster management with Thailand as a part of their collaboration in this direction.

Bilateral cooperation between the two is growing in other fields too with India seeking closer cultural and educational ties with Thailand including in university curricula in both the nations.

The two countries will mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in August this year.
