Hindustan Construction orders second Bell Agusta tilt-rotar

Bangalore, Feb 9 (UNI) Hindustan Construction has placed an order for a second Bell Agusta tilt-rotar aircraft that can take off like a helicopter and then fly like an airplane.

The BA609 has the capability to fly at a speed twice as fast as a conventional helicopter.

Hindustan Construction has built a range of projects across a variety of segments such as transportation, power, marine projects, oil and gas pipeline construction, irrigation and water supply, utilities and urban infrastructure.

The BA609 is a joint aircraft programme between Bell Helicopter, the majority stakeholder, and Agusta Westland of Italy. It is awaiting certification from US and European authorities which is expected by 2010. Deliveries will follow soon after.

Bell Helicopter is a subsidiary of the 11 billion dollar Textron Inc.
