High-level committee for 'innovation' constituted : PM

Mumbai, Feb 9 (UNI) Stressing the need for a focussed strategy on innovation, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said a high-level committee has been constituted in the Planning Commission to look into all aspects of influencing performance of the services sector.

Addressing the valedictory session of Nasscom--India Leadership Forum summit here, Dr Singh said that ''We propose to take a number of steps to enhance the overall innovation in the eco-system''.

He said the high-level group would also suggest policy measures which would need to be taken to sustain competitiveness.

''As this group finalises its recommendations, we will take all possible measures to support innovation, competitiveness and sustained growth of the services sector'', Mr Singh added.
