Writ filed against Salem Railway Division formation

Kochi, Feb 8 (UNI) A writ petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court by Palakkad Municipality councillor C Krishnakumar challenging the formation of a new railway division at Salem by bifurcating Palakkad Division.

The petitioner claimed that the proposal was made solely for political gains by a handful of politicians and it was against the recommendations by railway authorities.

He condended that Salem Division was being formed solely based on linguistic and state consideration.
