'Special courts needed for cases pertaining to business'

Ahmedabad, Feb 8 (UNI) Deputy Judge in Canada's Richmond Hill Court Jay Chauhan has advocated the establishment of designated special courts in the country to speed up cases pertaining to the business community.

He said although business laws in India have been amended to accommodate the global trade, their effective implementation is necessary. For this, special judges, having technical knowledge, could play a greater role in quickly disposing of cases pertaining to the business community.

Effective implementation of the Indian patent law will help in the economic development of the country as the quality of Indian products matches that of global market leaders, he stressed.

He expressed confidence that the Indian economy will play a significant role in the global market and the Indian GDP will shortly match that of England.

Jay Chauhan is in the city to give a lecture on ''Scope for Indian Industry from Global Perspective'', being hosted by the Intellectual Property Protection Organisation.
