Silk yarn smugglers get RI

Patna, Feb 08 (UNI) Special judge for economic offences of Patna Shahid Khan today awarded three years of rigorous imprisonment each to two Silk Yarn smugglers.

The designated judges found Shashikant Mishra and Ramnaresh Shah guilty under the custom act. The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 5000 against convict Shashikant while Ramnaresh was ordered to pay Rs 2000 as fine.

According to the charges, convicts were arrested by the custom officials while carrying the Silk Yarn worth Rs 6 lakhs without paying duty in Sitamarhi district of Bihar on April 29,1998.
