Shock, dismay: Bad day for Sanjay Dutt

Mumbai, Feb 8 (UNI) As drums beat outside the courtroom, it was a bad day for Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt who put his hands to his ears when the prosecution demanded that he be awarded the maximum sentence under the Arms Act.

Sanjay Dutt sat in the dock, meant for accused and convicts, at the back of the courtroom.

The actor was visibly shocked when special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told the designated TADA court of Sanjay Dutt's meeting with don Dawood Ibrahim's brother Anees in Dubai.

Appealing for relief under the Probation of Offenders Act before the court, it seemed that Sanjay Dutt never expected that his past will haunt him again. But the special prosecutor told the court that possession of weapons like the AK-56 rifle and 9 mm pistol is dangerous, and the court should not show any mercy on the actor.

As the court proceedings were on, at times nothing was properly audible because of the beating of drums outside the Arthur Road prison.
