Robbers injure two youths

Kolhapur, Feb 8 (UNI) Two youths were seriously injured by an unidentified robber, when they tried to nab him in the Shukrawar peth area here today.

The robber had broke open a house of Namdev Jadhav around noon and when Namdev's wife Mayadevi returned from outside she found that the door of her house was open, police said.

Hearing her screams, Amit Salgar, who was standing nearby rushed to the spot and tried to catch the robber. However, the robber had hit him with a heavy weapon on Amit's head and injured him seriously.

Another youth from the area Sangram Karale also tried to nab the robber but was hit back in a similar way, police said.

Both the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, police said and added that no arrests have been made so far in this connection.

This was the second robbery attempt within last 24 hours at the Shukrawar peth area. Yesterday, around noon a 50-year-old-woman was strangulated to death by an unindentified robber, when she was alone in her house and had also robbed valuables.
