National Building Code must be made mandatory: FSAI
Chennai, Feb 8 (UNI) The National Building Code should be made mandatory as enforcement of fire safety norms was a major concern for the authorities, Fire and Safety Association of India (FSAI) President Liaqut Ali Khan said today.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar 'Emerging Trends in Security, Safety and Integrated Building Management Systems' here, he said builders were not properly implementing fire safety norms and it was causing concern to enforcement authorities.
''The FSAI has recommended some guidelines on detection systems in the building'', he said and added that the National Building Code had to be made mandatory for strict compliance of fire safety norms.
''Andhra Pradesh has already adopted the Building Code and other states should also follow suit'', Mr Liaquat added.
