Mother throws child into Sabarmati river, attempts suicide

Ahmedabad, Feb 8 (UNI) In a ghastly act, a woman threw her four-year-old son and then jumped into the Sabarmati river from Nehru Bridge today.

According to the Fire Brigade sources, the incident took place around 1600 hours when the woman threw her son in the water and jumped after him to commit suicide.

However, the woman was rescued and sent to Vadilal Sarabhai Hospital for further treatment.

The search for fishing out the body of the son is continuing. The identity of the woman and cause for her ghastly act was not yet known, fire brigade sources said.
