Man sentenced to double life for killing minor

Thrissur, Feb 8 (UNI) A fast track court here today sentenced a person to double life imprisonment and 10 years rigorous imprisonment for murdering a seven-month-old girl after kidnapping and sexually assaulting her.

Thrissur Fast Track Judge Joseph Thekke Kuruvinal sentenced Kamalakshi Babu alias Babu (38), a native of Azhikode, for the murder.

According to the prosecution, Mary Meghala was kidnapped in 2004 by the accused while sleeping with her parents in front of a closed shop near the temple in Kodungalur.

Mary's parents hailing from Neyveli in Tamil Nadu were in Kodungallur for some labour work.
