India ratifies Madrid Protocol on marks: Cabinet
New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) India today acceeded to the Madrid Protocol on International Registration of Marks and this will provide better and extensive protection abroad for Indian marks owners.
A Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, also approved a proposal to move a Bill in Parliament for amending the Trade Marks Act, 1999 to comply with the provisions of accession.
The move would facilitate speedy registration of Indian mark in different markets worldwide and promote business confidence in Indian IPR system globally, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters.
