Former minister challenges dacoit chief

Morena (MP), Feb 8: Former Madhya Pradesh Minister and Congressleader Andel Singh Kansana has challenged dacoit chieftain JagjivanParihar to release a youth from his captivity or face the ire of thepublic.

''If Ramvir Singh Gurjar kidnapped from Sabda village underDeogarh police station limits on February 4 was not released withoutpayment of ransom, I along with my armed colleagues will jump into theravines targeting the bandit'', Mr Kansana told reporters here lastnight.

The bandit chief, who carried a reward of Rs 5.5 lakh on his head, had earlier threatened to kill the former minister.

Morena Superintendent of Police Hari Singh Yadav said thoughpublic support would be enlisted in anti-dacoit operations, nobodywould be allowed to use weapons. Combing operations against the dacoitgang was in progress, he added.
