Tirupati, Feb 8: Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Ikya Sangarshana Samithi president V G R Naragonia alleged that all political parties had failed to improve the economic status of the BCs and called for evolving unity among them to become a "major force" before the next assembly elections.

Addressing B C Athmagovarava Sadasu, organised by the Chittoor district B C Sangarshana Samiti (BCSS) here last night, he said all the 94 BC communities in the state, forming more than half of the state population, should be united to protect their constitutional rights.

Mr Naragonia said BCs including STs and SCs played a major role in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in the political fortunes of Mulayam Singh and M Karunanidhi respectively.
