BMC assistant security officer arrested for accepting bribe

Mumbai, Feb 8 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an Assistant Security Officer of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a businessman for not demolishing the mezzanine floor of his business establishment.

ACB sources said that Sanjay Bhanushali, an assistant security officer from L-ward of the Corporation, had demanded Rs 15,000 from the businessman, for not demolishing the mezzanine floor of his business establishment at Saki Naka in western suburban.

The businessman had lodged a complaint against him with ACB office at Worli. ACB sleuths had laid a trap yesterday in the L-ward office and nabbed Bhanushali red-handed.

He was produced before Special ACB court Judge S S Joshi, who today remanded him to police custody till February 15.
