Anti-corruption sleuths arrest official

Kakinada, Feb 8 (UNI) Mines and Geology Deputy Director N Rangarao was today arrested for having assets worth more than Rs 75 lakh, disproportionate to his income, by Anti-Corruption Sleuths.

According to offical sources, raids were conducted simultaneously at Hyderabad, Tanuku, Elluru, Vemulapally -- the native place of Dr Rao.

Vijayawada DSPV S Chowdary said that so far information available with officials stated that Dr Rao had three houses, three housing plots, Rs 12 lakh in his bank account, gold and other ornaments worth Rs one lakh and cash in hand amounting to Rs 14,000. Dr Rao was looking after Krishna, East and West Godavari districts.

He would be produced before the Vijayawada court tomorrow, the sources added.
