3 killed as train run over

Chennai, Feb 8 (UNI) Three people, including a woman, were killed in separate incidents, while crossing the railway track on the Beach-Chengalpattu section of the Southern Railway since yesterday.

Police said an unidentified man was knocked down when he tried to cross the track near the Vandalur level-crossing early this morning.

Yesterday, two persons, including a woman, were hit by speeding EMU trains at Pallavaram and Irumbuliyur respectively.

One Raghavan (70) was proceeding to Chromepet railway station to board a train to Mambalam when he was run over at Pallavaram gate.

In the other accident near Irumbuliyur level-crossing, Saroja (56) of East Tambaram, who was going to a hospital to meet her son, was fatally knocked down.

Tambaram Railway Protection Force personnel had registered three cases.
