Two-day National symposium on Animal genetic resources from tomorrow

Ranchi, Feb 7(UNI) A two-day national symposium on "Role of Animal Genetic Resources in Rural Livelihood Security" will begin here tomorrow at Birsa Agricultural University(BAU).

About 150 scientists from all over the country would participate in the event being organised in a joint collaboration of Karnal based Society of Conservation of Domestic Animal Biodiversity (SOCDAB) and BAU.

Talking to reporters here today, Vice-Chancellor of the University N N Singh said that emphasis would be given over improvement and preservation of local breeds during the programme.

BAU Additional Director of Research D K Singh said the two-day programme would have four technical sesions focussing genetic improvement of the local breeds of animals.

Jharkhand Governor Syed Razi and Indian Veterinary Research Institute Director S P S Ahlawat would grace the ocassion, Mr Singh added.
