Student raped by labourer

Visakhapatnam, Feb 7 (UNI) A 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a labourer at Saradanagar in Pendurty mandal in the district.

Police said here today the girl, an intermediate student, was alone at home when the labourer G Ramesh (25) of the locality, went to her house posing as AP Transco staff to take meter reading.

He gagged and raped the girl and then strangulated her. When she fell unconscious, he assumed she was dead and left the place.

After sometime, her parents returned home and shifted her to hospital, police said.

A case has been registered and investigation was underway.
