Sonia woos women voters, promises all-round development
Phagwara, Punjab, Feb 7 (UNI) In a bid to woo women voters, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today promised all-round progress of women in Punjab, if her party retained power in the assembly elections.
''I have special dreams for all my sisters in Punjab and I want to see them at the top in all walks of life'', Ms Gandhi said, addressing an election rally in favour of ruling Congress for the February 13 assembly elections in the Daana Mandi premsies here.
She said that her party in its poll manifesto had accorded due priority to ensure all round progress of women.
She said that the present Congress government in Punjab had fulfilled the commitments made in the party manifesto during the last assembly elections and would keep the promises being made in the new manifesto, if it came to power after the elections.
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Congress state president Shamsher Singh Dullo also spoke on the occasion.
Congress General Secretary Janaradhan Dwivedi, senior leaders Mohsina Kidwai and Santosh Bagdodia and party candidates from adjoining districts were also present.
