Phagwara, Feb 7 (UNI) Congress President Sonia Gandhi today made a frontal attack on the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) and asked the Punjabis to beware of the intentions of divisive and destructive forces.
Addressing an election rally in favour of the ruling Congress nominees for the February 13 assembly elections in the Daana Mandi premises here this afternoon, Ms Gandhi said that the SAD-BJP alliance during in its last term in Punjab had disrupted the process of progress. The NDA-rule at the Centre, had caused much damage and destruction to the country, she claimed.
Ms Gandhi said that the SAD and BJP did not have common policies or programmes but they had common vested interests, which for them are over and above the national interests.
'' Beware of the intentions of the divisive forces which only believe in disrupting the peace and communal harmony of our society.
They believing in provoking the poeple, for the fulfillment of their own narrow vested interests'', she added, asking the voters to reject such political parties.
Refering to the UPA-government at the Centre and the Congress government in Punjab, Ms Gandhi said that five years ago the state was in a miserable condition.
